- Words at work…improving communication in your business,
ministry, or organization
No matter your line of work—whether it’s in the
business field or on the mission field--much of what you do probably
involves writing. Letters, reports, proposals, brochures, manuals,
press releases, newsletters, ad copy, and articles: these are the
power tools in the machinery of the working world.
But the truth is, not everyone in your organization has
been trained to be a writer. At best, that translates into
run-of-the-mill communications. At worst, it allows the production
of off-the-mark messages, error-sprinkled publications, and
lackluster copy.
Why settle for either alternative? A professional writer
and editor can help you craft your points, fine-tune your
presentation of them, and eliminate image-eroding errors. I can help
you power-pack each piece of communication with the right message,
the right words, and even the right image for yourself and your
organization.
Words in publishing…shaping up your manuscript for submission
Every writer needs an
editor. Whether you’re trying your hand at your first manuscript
or polishing up your fifteenth, you’ll want to make sure you allow
a trained pair of eyes to catch things you may have missed. I can
help you on all levels of editing:
- copy editing
- spotting and correcting your grammatical,
word choice and punctuation errors
- style editing
- tightening up your loose copy, bringing
inconsistencies into alignment, flagging cliches, and clearing up
confusing sentences or paragraphs
- content editing
– helping you organize or re-organize
your thoughts and your research into a logical and pleasing order
- critiquing
–providing the feedback you need to move
ahead on your project with confidence
The Freelance Advantage – Rather than having a staffer
squeeze writing projects into an already busy schedule, bring me
aboard for full-speed-ahead service. Your project will get my full
attention, a fresh perspective, and the benefit of my specialized
skills. (Plus, you don’t have to pay for my vacation days, sick
days or health insurance!)
Free Consultation – During our first meeting—by phone,
email, or in person—we’ll discuss the project and its scope,
brainstorm if necessary, then discuss fees and deadlines. Next I’ll
pin down the details in a simple agreement. We’ll both sign it,
then I’ll get started.
Terms – Once I sign on to a project, I’m committed.
Wholeheartedly. Because so many factors, such as turnaround time and
complexity, shape the scope of each project I prefer to quote fees
on a per-project basis. I will make every effort to find a way to
work within your budget.
Technicalities – Needless to say, I have a computer, fax,
scanner, internet access and email. But I still know how to use a
library for research and snail mail or personal delivery to transfer
documents--whatever works best for you. |
